On Friday March 11, 2011 I was watching the news as I do everyday. Then, breaking news an 8.9 magnitude earthquake had just struck Japan and they are expecting a Tsunami impact. Every newscaster got on it right away. That weekend devastated me and the coastal region of Japan.
Over 10,000 people died. The number of people missing is over 17,000. More than 500,000 people either lost their homes or couldn't stay in their home due to loss of electricity. They stayed in shelters, most sleeping wherever they could find a spot on the floor and eating and drinking water as minimal as the human body needs to survive.
Not only was their country sadly impacted by this natural disaster but they gained another problem soon after. Japan's nuclear reactors were effected by all of this to the point they were overheating and leaking harmful radiation into the air. In efforts to cool it down they used water which leaked into the Ocean. As of right now they are in recovery and have most under control.
